successI made it! Yes, I did! It feels good that I was able to accomplish one thing the month of January and that was to successfully complete the Ultimate Blog Challenge. So far, I’m sticking with my one word for 2015 and that’s CONSISTENCY. So let’s see if I can stick with blogging for the rest of the year. I got a great start for January, and here comes February!

I’m not going to blog daily, but at least three times per week, I will continue to plan and write blog posts on the topics of blogging, blog content, social media marketing and all things WordPress. It’s what I do in my business, so there’s no reason to not share what I know best.

However, I will be back for the April 2015 Ultimate Blog Challenge. That will give me (and you) two months to prepare for daily blogging postings. I know I can do it. I’m already setting up the month of April with daily topics I can write on.

So what did I learn from the challenge?

  • I gained more blog followers.
  • I made some really great connections (and some reconnections too!).
  • I received some great feedback in my blog articles.
  • My website traffic greatly increased by more than half.

And this is just from the first week of the challenge! LOL

If you missed any of my blogging series, you can find them below:

I will be writing more articles on social media marketing, namely Pinterest over the next few weeks, so if you want to learn more about social media marketing and how it will make a positive impact on your business, you don’t want to miss it. Register for my blog to stay in touch!

Guest-BloggerIn the final installment of my Blog Content Generation Series, I want to share with you the topic on guest blogging and how it is one of the most powerful ways you can build strong relationships that may ultimately help you build your business, setting your brand value and providing great SEO positioning.

If executed properly, guest blogging can help you in four ways:

  1. Building Relationships – It is possible to build great relationships with guest blogging as long as you blog for others regularly. You may not find your reach if you guest blog one time. You need to plan on interacting with the audience (usually through commenting) and following up with the blog owner to see how your guest post did. It proves you care about your community. This can lead to additional guest post opportunities in the future.
  2. Becoming  an Expert – Guest blogging can be a boon for gaining expert status in your field. The more well-researched posts you submit on an authoritative blog, the more chances you will get to interact with your audience. Over time, you can become an expert in the eyes of this audience.
  3. Discovering Business Opportunities – With proper implementation, guest blogging can generate new business opportunities. When attempting to attract business, nothing matters more than the quality of your written offering. Your submission must accurately showcase your level of expertise in your field.
  4. Link Building – The highest quality links will come from submitting your best content to the best blogs publishing in your niche.

If you want to enjoy the benefits of guest blogging, then put your creativity cap on and create the best ever article for guest posting.

Oh, and this morning, I was reminded that there is a great guest blogging community that is very active in the social platform called Storify. You can find the guest blogging community known as My Blog Guest here. This is a great site that was created and managed by Ann Smarty, a very popular blogger and guest blogger.

Before I end this article, I want to take the opportunity now to ask if you are interested in becoming a guest blogger on my blog, please contact me directly to discuss a potential “blog partnership”. I would love to have someone that shares my interests and expertise to write guest posts every now and then.

blog-commentingIn the fourth installment of my Blog Content Generation Series, I want to share some great tips on how commenting on other blogs generates A LOT of traffic for your own blog or website. Going on now, in the Ultimate Blog Challenge Facebook group, we have the option of posting our daily blog article and then we take the opportunity to comment on at least two other blog articles that have been posted in the comment chain. It’s really a lot of fun! It has created some great business relationships that I didn’t have a week ago or a month ago. If you are reading this article and you’re a part of the Ultimate Blog Challenge going on in the month of January, then don’t just be a spectator. Be a participator in the blog comment daily exercise! You’re missing out on a lot of opportunities to generate traffic and interest in your business.

First, let’s explore some benefits of commenting on other blogs. Blog commenting can help you in:

  • Finding out what other bloggers in your niche are writing about
  • Reading some great content that will help spark ideas that you can write about in your own blog
  • Reaching out to bloggers in your niche can generate interest and formulate some great relationships…creating a potential to invite them to be a guest blogger, perhaps?
  • Creating a doorway back to your own blog for the readers of the blog you comment on…this where the traffic gets generated!

Now that you are ready to jump in and comment on blogs you are interested in, here’s some tips on how to leave great comments:

  • Make sure to keep comments “on topic”
  • Share what you like and don’t like about the article (leaving a review or opinion)
  • Add an example or share a story of your own if the blogger invites you to answer a question about the article
  • Ask a relevant question that the blogger can answer for you
  • If you include a link back to your own site, make sure it’s relevant to the post and the comment you are leaving

Remember, comments are a reflection of you. Be professional in how and what you write in your comment. It can make or break your brand as a blogger if your comments are questionable to the blog reader.

In today’s Blog Content Generation Series post, I want to provide you information on how you can create great blog content on something you review or have an opinion on. We call these Review or Opinion posts.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you writing a review or opinion blog post on something you feel could benefit others. It can be intimidating to some, however, because expressing an opinion about something may cause controversy. However, if written correctly, your opinion post could have a significant impact on your reader audience. This is how:

  • It can encourage other readers to share their own opinions in comments on other blogs. Review posts can draw out interaction and great conversations. It sounds like a great way to build trust with your readers.
  • You can help your readers translate news and understand how your opinion can help them.
  • You can show your readers you are actually engaging in your shared information, showing that you have a strong interest in the topic you are writing about. This interest can snowball and draw your readers in.

Here are some simple guidelines on how to write a review or opinion post: Blog Comments Build Traffic

  • If your blog post is about politics, write a review on the stances that a particular politician represents.
  • If your blog is about food, share a recipe and tell your readers what you like about it and what occasion(s) to serve it at.
  • If your blog article is about a famous TV or movie star, perhaps something specific about their fashion sense, write an opinion about that.

When writing a review or opinion post, try not to get too emotional about your topic. Simply expressing your opinion…adding your own thoughts and feelings about it is enough.
